Guest martinwilliams999 Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 What web browsers do you use on your PPC device? Are there any decent free ones out there? Is ThunderHawk worth the extortionate price? Back in my SmartPhone days I used Opera, which was great. Alas, they don't do a PPC version, so I'm currently languishing with IE, which whilst not rubbish, is certainly limited.
Guest Pondrew Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 There's an Opera Pocket PC version coming very soon. Confusingly T-Mobile marketing states the MDA Vario comes with it :?:
Guest DancingMatt Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Apparantly Opera is on the second CD that comes with the Vario? Still haven't ordered mine so I can't confirm...
Guest Phil Lee Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Opera is not on the second CD that comes with the Vario. That CD has USB modem drivers, manuals and SPB GPRS Monitor on it. The person who said it had Opera on made a mistake. He had confused himself because ActiveSync listed Opera which he had already installed on his previous Smartphone.
Guest Peppermint Hippo Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 I use IE on mine. Does the job :)
Guest fraser Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 I use ftxPBrowser, it's free and it has tabbed browsing.
Guest jimbouk Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 IE with SPB Pocket Plus added functionality (open new window etc) seems to do the job just fine. Most sites lend themselves to the single column view quite well - thus you avoid horizontal scrolling.
Guest martinwilliams999 Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 I use ftxPBrowser, it's free and it has tabbed browsing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is a new one on me. The thing that annoys me about IE is all the websites that say they can't be displayed on "older" versions of IE. I'll look ftxPBrowser out & give it a try.
Guest scottb Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 (edited) I use NetFront v3.2 unless I have to use PIE for compatibility reasons--I have a Citrix client that only runs on PIE. Sometimes I'll use the Picsel browser that came with my i730, but it is combersome to use. Edited November 27, 2005 by scottb
Guest radiator Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Another IE user here (with SPB Pocket Plus extras) - just waiting for a decent/stable/fast version of MiniMo... I have a Citrix client that only runs on PIE... Aargh! Citrix is the bane of my worklife...
Guest fraser Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 just waiting for a decent/stable/fast version of MiniMo... Don't hold your breath! I think MiniMo will always be a little bulky, when I last tried it the install was 20 meg!!
