Like the topic says, is there a way to make the contacts list screen display a background image? This can be done previously in WM2002 and WM2003. I can't seem to get it to work on WM5.

Please help.

I have untill now only changed the background for the incoming call screen :

HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/Callalert : create new string called "BKBitmapFile" and enter your image in the value data field (like /windows/WindowsMobileLS.jpg)

That worked just fine (reboot needed for it to show). Same should really work for your contacts background aswell, do the same only in this key :

HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/rai/MSCONTACTS

I'll give it a shot myself tonight :-)

Well, that was the first thing I tried because previous Smartphone versions do it this way and no, it doesn't work (for me at least).

Doesn't work for HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/rai/MSCONTACT for me either :?: Strange though, since it didn't give any trouble at all for the incoming call screen..

I'll test some more screens after dinner :)

Well... It will simply not work for contacts.. Just like it would never work to change the inbox background in SP2003..

Well the Question, Info, Volume and Exclamation screens CAN be edited, the exact same way as in SP2003. Better then nothing

Should anyone figure out how to change the background for the contacts screen please tell !

Oh, and here are some of my versions for the editable screens mentioned, should anyone wanna get jiggy with the regeditor :)

I don't know why but It's not possible for contacts.

To have the list of all the system screens (with their keys and values), you can go on my website :)

Nice site MLAB, very well built and nice creative skins although I tried becoming a member and chose English as language and it fails to load after logging in :S

For some reason i created an image (240x266) and set it to the Start Menu background on my C550 but only the top left of the image appeared :?:

And for some reason I couldnt change the Orange Screen on Startup? Maybe theyre included in the ROM?

Thanks w411y !

I will check the "english version" problem tomorrow because I will be out from ... now

Just to be sure : the C550 is running WM2003SE and not WM5 ? yes ?

I will put below the explanation for WM5 but if you've got WM2003SE, you should find all the explanations here on Modaco in an old topic, I think.

Then FOR WM5 (if you made an upgrade on your C550):

Regarding the start menu background, I'd prefer that you let here a screenshot to be sure that I give you the good help. (I think you will have to add 2 values to :MSStart but I want to see your screen first)

On my site, it's HERE from n° 5->13.

Regarding the splashscreen, it's different than the old WM2003/WM2003SE.

When you start your phone (without any change), you can see only 1 pics but

in the registry, you can find 3 pics (3 times the same one) with 3 different names (1 2 and 3).(hard in english :) ).

For the moment, I only find how to change the pics 1 and 2 and make them appear on the screen after the orange pics

If I change the pics n° 3, that makes nothing.

and I didn't find how to change the orange pics, but I suppose that this one is included in the ROM (like with the old WM2003SE).
