Replacement headphones - Sony MDR-EX70P EarBuds

Because I regularly use my SPV as a walkman, I invested in some Sony Earbud Headphones (£40) to replace the crappy ones that came with the phone.

A couple of threads in the forum suggested how to wire up just the earbuds to the existing headset, thereby keeping the microphone feature of the original headset.

Here are some of the impressions:

- Whereas the original headset ear buds REGULARLY fell out of my ears with little prompting, the sony ear buds are like glue - they never fall out. Furthermore, they are super comfortable because of the soft rubber cup that adapts to your ear shape.

- The original headset hardly blocked outside sounds and this made listening to music annoying in all but the quietest environment. The Sony ear buds are the exact opposite - they block out EVERYTHING (-lamost like an active noise reduction headset) which make listening to music in any environment a pleasure)

- Sound quality is awful: bass is way too forceful (hip hop will tear your eardrums to pieces), mid ranges are mushy and washy (guitar riffs sound as if they were muffled by a thick blanket and lyircs are somtimes difficult make out) and high frequencies are almost painful.

However, never having listened to these headphones on anyhing else but the SPV, I cannot judge if the awful sound has to do with my sloppy marriage of the original headset withe Sony Ear Buds or with the orginal sound quality of the MDR-EX70p's.

On balance, though, the Sony's have great potential, once the sound issue can be sorted out. Has anyone tried them withe SPV?
