Guest mr.matey Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Apologies if this has already been covered, but am new to these forums and whilst I've searched, not sure if I searched fully enough... Anyway, just got my M500 and so far pretty pleased with it. I have set my owner info etc using my proper name, however I've discovered that this is also the name used for Bluetooth Identification. Is there a known registry tweak or workaround so that I can have my owner info correct, but my more obscure name as my Bluetooth ident?
Guest maxwell_hung Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 Yeah I've noticed this myself mr.matey when doing some bluejacking tests with my mate. I ended up changing the phone ID to something anonymous but I'd like to know if there is a fix.
Guest Confused Stu Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 (edited) You can change it in the phone's registry. First off (obviously) get yourself a free registry editor, then go to: HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/Settings and there you will find a key called "LocalName" set this to whatever you fancy coming up on others PC's. If you're feeling naughty, set it to speech marks, tab, 1, tab, speech marks. Save the attachment, send it to the phone, then copy and paste it from Pocket Word into your registry. Now whenever a Nokia does a Bluetooth search and finds you, the Nokia will switch off! Have your bluetooth on down the pub and look round for the Nokia owner going nuts at his phone when he can't send his Crazy Frog ringtone to his mate with no idea why! :twisted:Nokia_Killer.txt Edited November 23, 2005 by Confused Stu
