C500 "flips out" and changes date/time

Hi,

Had a C500 for about a year, and my partner about 9-10 months

Upgraded to the latest ROM (4.2.1.1) when Orange (finally) released it and had no problems.

About 2 month ago, my phone had a fit, started to lock up and would require a reboot. On restarting, the date and time were back to 05/05/05 12:00.

This has happened about 5-6 times since then, the last 2 time it didn't need a reboot, it recovered from teh lock up itself, but the date and time again reset.

Yesterday, my partners phone kept going into Flight Mode and she had to undo it about 4-5 times. Tonight she complained that her texts were showing as unread, but were not there. I found them at the bottom of the texts like they'd come in before the current ones.... I went to the hone screen to find the date time was showing 05/05/05 12:06. Texts had been coming in OK 10 mins earlier.

I've googled here and google.com and found nothing.

Anyone got any ideas??

I'm tempted to hard reset, but I'd rather not if I dont have to.

But you aren't alone. I've just upgraded my C500, but the above has happened 4 or 5 times in the last month

I've noticed a bug that If i'm in Windows Media Player, the time and date randomly set themselves! But i'm sure WMP is like.. increasing the system clock or somthing because I see the 'album/name/genre' ticker go really really fast somtimes.

Wierd.

I'm glad to hear it. Just my phone - maybe a dodgy reg entry or a piece of software, but for it to do the same thing on my partners was odd.

That used to happen to me when i synched my C500, i went into time settings on comp and changed it to GMT dont rememnber what it was on. think it had to do with BST ending neway it's sorted now.

I've noticed that when I take the battery out (after a lock-up) the date and time go back to:

12:00

05/05/2005

...mmm why that date ? Wierd.

Maybe the internal battery which remembers date/time is dead (does it have an internal batery?).

Any ideas?

Mine and my partners is doing the same, remove the battery and date/time reset.

Since they've both had the rom upgrade, the date and time is 12:00 20/10/2005 instead of 12:00 05/05/2005 as it used to be.

Getting frustrated - Spoke to Orange and they advised the the "computer says no......" (Just Kidding) THe the computer says it's got a fault (really??? lol) and that I need to send it to HTC for repair. After the horror stories I've heard, I'm not sure I want to send them back.
