Guest Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 With the reason of sounding cheap. Why isn't there any upgrade offers for us that bought the version 2. I think that it would only be fair that owners of version 2 could get a discount when upgrading to version 3.

Please think about existing customers. You state "This is not an update but a new major version, so the regcode of the version 2.xx is no more compatible with the 3.xx" - but where is the new look and the list of so new functionalities? Even if you rewrote the app from scratch, it looks exactly like v2.0 and for us, customers, it appears as a small update (WM5 compatibility). Please understand our point of view. Guest Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 (edited) Too late! Four quid  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well. It's the thought of having loyal customers. Every normal company knows that if the put in a upgrade patern the will get a certain amout of customers to upgrade, and at the same time gain new. All though I now have a WM2005 device, and would love to use Xbar3, I won't as long as I have to pay full price. And when he at the same time gives it for free for existing customers (purchased after a certain date) there should be a upgrade fee for the rest. Edited November 26, 2005 by Guest
Guest fozzie Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 ... there should be a upgrade fee for the rest. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There shouldn't be anything; it's entirely up to Xetra what he charges for his apps. You have a choice; either stick with xBar 2 or pay the four quid for xBar 3. Simple really.
Guest fozzie Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 (edited) @Xetra. I've got a problem with xBar 3 (which is the same as I had with xBar 2.6 and why I am having to run 2.) If I call up xBar (3 or 2.6) and then press up on the joystick, nothing happens. If I click down once, I get the quick launch apps list. If I then click on an app, nothing happens. If instead I select down again, the app launches. I'm using an Orange UK C500. Any ideas? Edited November 26, 2005 by fozzie

I don't think you should go for a job in sales, since your attitude isn't that great. My question was laid as a request not an order, and since I can't see you working for Xetra, I think you should leave the answer of my request to him.

I'm sure that Xetra does not want to risk his income by putting off potential upgrade customers, so I assume that this has been a decision taken on a financially sound basis. Ultimately, my own opinion is that Xbar has always been one of my most used apps, and I consider it to be a bargain at only £4. I also like to think that in some small way I am helping to encourage small dvelopers like Xetra, by contributing to their income. Of course this is not an opinion that everyone will share, but I would wager that the majority of Xbar users will happily pay the fee for what is undoubtedly one of the best smartphone apps of all time.

I'm sure that Xetra does not want to risk his income by putting off potential upgrade customers, so I assume that this has been a decision taken on a financially sound basis. I'm also a software developer, and I also create software, and yes the prise is only 4£. But I think, that when You say A (Existing customers that bought before date x wille get it for free), then you have to say B ( Other existing customers will get it for i.e 2£ if you buy before i.e. Jan 1. 2006). I think from a business point of view, that would have created more business. Yes, and call me cheap and everything. I'm just trying to make a point here. 4£ or 40 £. Since this upgrades only feature is compability with WM2005, I see no point of calling it a major new version. Well I didn't want to start an argument, I just wanted an answer from Xetra, and I haven't got an answer from him yet. So until then I think I will wait to hear his descition and not all the others. Best regards, Chris <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi All About no update discount, here is my explaination. The sales of xbar 2 was dicreasing a lot since some keygen are available on the net... So, it takes a lot of time to offer a service for update (check regocde in the current customer database, and some online shop never sent me sales and customer name ... (by the way they never payed me too ... for the moment). I want to ask you a question : what the average price for a software like xbar ? (maybe about 15 euros ?) and what should be the price for an update ? (maybe 6 / 7 euros ?) so for 12 (6*2) euros you got xbar 2 (for 2 years ago) and get xbar 3 (maybe for 2 years) EDIT : Price updated => Full is now 8 euros Update is now only 5 euros <= you have to paied to "update" your phone to change from wm2003 phone to wm2005 phone (how much ??) For the moment xbar 3 offer -the WM2005 support, -avanced macro support for PPC, stylus click emulation (remind you that the PPC version 2.6 version was a free update ...) -include the start menu launcher (up pad) So, you can keep xbar 2.6 if you havn't wm5 device. Note, you can download for free the xmacro wizzard that is fully compatible with xbar 2. Regards David note1: for xbar 3 user (demo or registred) you can download the build of the day at Build of the day (you have to install by the regular way the cab file before to unrar this) note2: Sorry for my english Edited November 28, 2005 by Xetra

When you select app, you ahe to click on action or down to launch it (or to move in the subfolder if you selected a subfolder)

Guest Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 (edited) Guess you won't be getting a xmas present from hummelmose! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What a stupid remark. I only raised a question. I got an answer from the developer, and that's it. And I must have had a point since he now changed it. But what the heck. Since you all now think I'm cheap so be it. At least I had the nerve to ask !! On the how much point. Well. I paid 3.500 DKK for the new phone, I also paid money for upgrading other software. And who's the cheap, The one paying or the one stealing with a keygen ? Edited November 28, 2005 by Guest

Guest Strongarm Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 V3 works great - but I still don't know the righ ICONSIZE setting. The clock is still distorted and the Icons in the bubble look a bit 'special'. Any setting i need to add on the C550? (sorry if i missed something here...)

It's working so far but the xBar 3 screen is not properly alligned. Can you please help? See attached.
