Im currently looking on ebay at a phone (mpx200), it is locked on at&t wireless from north america, i am going to buy an upgrade which also unlocks, it is from ebay.

I need to know if it will work in australia (the upgrade) because im scared that i cant turn it on in australia, because it will not let me connect, will the upgrade work just when the phone is on (saying no reception or insert sim card)?

because the program that unlocks it might need the phone on activesync or something to work, and how am i supposed to when it is insert sim card, I DONT HAVE AN AT&T SIM!!

so will the program just need the phone on or need it on active sync!

Ok ill make it more clear.

I have a phone that has unlcking software, do i need the phone on or off, and if it needs to be on, does it need to be on activesync, or just on the startup screen?

does it matter?

oh and it is locked to american at&t wireless, i dont have an at&t simcard and i live in australia.

will the software work without a simcard in the phone, but it turned on?

Are you sure that you want the AT&T MPX200 ?

The US version of MPX200 is tri-band GSM 850/1800/1900 and I think the Australian networks uses GSM 900 and GSM 1800 so you might want to consider the GSM 900/1800/1900 version instead.
