WM5: Default contacts filter

OK. I'm lucky enough to have got my hands on an imate SP5, and it's a marvel. The only problem is that it syncs all of my outlook contacts. I have a few hundred, but only want to use a handful regularly on my phone. It's easy enough to filter them, but it just takes a few extra button presses - both annoying and time consuming!

Has anyone worked out a way of pre-filtering them when you first open up contacts? Is there some default filter that can be applied?

Thanks!

i have a similar situation. my outlook has roughly 1000 contacts. my sony ericsson S700i had around 450 in the phone's memory, which just exceeded the SIM card's capacity (i know that because whenever i tried to save all from phone to sim, it says that it's more than what it could save).

i DO want everything from my outlook to be in my SP5 - that's sort of the marvel of having such a little T610-like device, yet is souped up to the max!

even typing in DAV for David isn't convenient. Nor is REST for Restaurants. in my S700 Sony Ericsson's phone memory, i had for example, Rest AAA, followed by Rest BBB, Rest CCC ... for maybe 10 of my favorite, most often called restaurants. whenever i'm thinking of calling one of them, i just pressed the "7" button, then the R list comes up, and i just scrolled from the first Rest to the last Rest. It is not only quick, but it is also helpful in that it helps me figure out which one of my frequently visited restaurants i'd like to go to, sort of a "quick review" of a short list of fave restaurants.

that's just a small example of why i think frequently, a shorter "sub list" of all Outlook contacts is more useful - just like the thread starter here.

i just got my phone 3 days ago so i have not yet explored everything. one thing i know i don't want to do is to ONLY sync a limited number of my Outlook contacts. the whole attraction for me of the SP5/Smartphones is that it has SO much in such a small form factor. To prematurely abridge the list is to take away a good part of why the phone is so "powerful".

there MUST be a solution to this. i wonder if anyone else has figured this out yet?

thanks in advance!

Any solution to this would be great. My girlfriend has just got an MDA to store literally hundreds of contacts and finally throw away her filofax - but she only wants to see Personal contacts by default.

Surely there must be some simple way of setting the default filter to a category when Contacts is opened?

Help much appreciated!

Has anyone had any luck in setting a default filter? Finding a solution for this would make my SDA perfect.
