Might be an obvious one, this.

I've had notification of my Orange mobile number being ported over to T-Mobile today. Great news! But I missed a call, since, and whoever left an ansafone message, which I can't get to as my phone is trying to dial the number for my old ansafone setting - the mailbox for the temp number T-Mobile gave me.

So where's the setting to change, either or both of:

a) my voicemail

Just found this in Settings>>Phone>>>Services>>>Voice Mail and Text Messages>>>Get settings. So that's fixed now. Might be useful to someone else though.

:) a setting for my phone's phonenumber

My phone still says (within Settings>>Phone) my old number at the top, where do I change that? Anyone?

Cheers.

Sorry i cant help you but i do have a quick ques.

how long did your number take to port?

cos i got ma vario on Friday from scancom and am weighting on my number from orange.

although im not sure id think your first option looks like the better option but youll probably need to change both eventually.

ill have to do it as well once my number changes.

All number ports take 7 days (not counting bank holidays) regardless of network, from the day you gave them your PAC code.

Your phone number is read off the SIM. Once the port has gone through turn flight mode on and off or soft reset and it should pick up your old number (if it doesnt automagically)

Yep, 7 days. Got mine last Monday and it changed yesterday.

Still can't find that second setting for the phone number.

My number took 7 days to port as well. When I go into Phone > Options, my phone number is shown as the original T-Mobile number, not the ported Orange one. This has survived a hard reset so I'm not sure how it works.

Hmm odd - have you tried putting the sim into another handset an see what that pulls up?

well my number ported today

and i have managed to solve the voicemail number but i cant get SMS to send.

also it sitll says the old number in the settings

EDIT: just realised you found tihs out already and it survived your had reset os i dont know what to do know.

TO FIX VOICEMAIL

start>settings>Phone>Services>Voicemail and Text messeges> Get settings

then change the voicemail one to your new number leaving the +4406 (dunno if the 06 will be differnt on yours)

if any knows how to do the text mesgs it would be much appreciated i may have to hard reset.

Another bizare thing is when some one ringsd my number it still goes to my old phone. but when i ring someone its fine. not sure what number it displays on there phone though.

also if anyonw rings my t-mobile number it says its incorrect. so basically i ahve no number on my Vario.

may have to hard reset but i cnat sync till tonight and need my numbers.

I've finally found out where the phone number displayed in the Phone options screen comes from. Better late than never I suppose :)

The number is stored in the sim card itself. To change it go to Start > Programs > Contacts > SIM Manager then select Tools > List of Own Numbers. If you click on LINE 1 you can change the name and phone number. One soft reset later and the phone options displays the correct number.

Good work! I ported my number from Orange to my Vario ages ago and haven't had any problems. Didn't realise the old T-Mobile number was in the settings though till reading this thread and taking a look!
