Guest danoelise Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 Hello, I've been looking at many of the windows smartphones options on the market today... and I've read conflicting reports. Can someone who actually owns one of these please say once and for all... Is windows smartphone able to open and/or edit word and excel files? Is this diff from windows mobile 5 vs the earlier o/s? If they do not, I must ask - ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? A windows "smartphone" that does not open windows files? crazy... dano
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 Hi. Welcome to MoDaCo Forum. Is windows smartphone able to open and/or edit word and excel files? - Open Word and Excel files= yes. Edit Excel files = yes. Edit Word files = I dont think so. No built-in MS Smartphone program to view/edit those file so you have to do it via third party softwares. Kindly check these links for software details: http://www.smartphone.net/software_detail....eid=279&id=1434 http://www.westtek.com/smartphone/document/ If they do not, I must ask - ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? A windows "smartphone" that does not open windows files? crazy... - No kidding. :)
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 PTab is great, if a bit pricey. ClearVue Word viewer is OK, but limited by the screen - I wonder if it's any better on a QVGA device?
Guest peekie Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 There is the freeware excel application called spreadsheet sp from www.daycounts.com and various free wordpad style applications which work ok , still find it a shame microsoft are not including a mobile version yet :?:
Guest nuke Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 Hi Would the PTAB spreadsheet software on C550 (QVGA WM2003se)? Btw, thanks for the links I never knew any 'editing' software existed for spreadsheet software. Clearvue on C550 makes use of the fullscreen but I'm still not impressed because it just presents the whole page. You can zoom in and out and scroll about (like 'Print Preview' option in MS Word. It would be better if you could have an option to view text without the extra page. After all it is just a 'viewer' and not an 'editor'.
Guest nuke Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 (edited) Though I guess it does show images as well. But still, I guess there should be an option to show 'text only' on a white background, if you know what I mean. Edited November 25, 2005 by nuke
Guest nuke Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 Spreadsheet SP of DayCounts is quite nice. But prob is that the row of the cell seems to be referred to by numbers rather than letters. So cell 'B3' in Excel would be '2:3' in Spreadsheet SP.
Guest cheng3105 Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 my phone is voq,it can open excel ,but not edit it,it can't open word.need download a software
