Guest RichardD Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 (edited) I've spent a while googling and browsing http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2...sMobile5PR.mspx but have not been able to find conclusive evidence that Oulook, Word, Excel are included with Windows Mobile 2005. (It hints in that press release, but I'm still sceptical... see below) The TMobile MDA Vario has WM2005 and comes with those pocket apps. I'm after the o2 XDA Mini S which has WM2005 but can I find anywhere that confirms it comes with Outlook, Word, Excel etc ? No!! I've tried phoning o2 and emailing their XDA data support team, but have had no joy at all. Can't find an o2 store that has them in stock either to go a physically check. A user opinions site has a post from someone who bought one, saying it didn't include Pocket Office, which is why I'm asking here. Edited November 25, 2005 by RichardD
Guest nforsans Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 That's what WM5 is about! By default, any device that runs under WM5 will have Mobile Word, excel and Powerpoint included in it. No need to check, that's what makes WM5! The Vario and the O2 Xda Mini S will definitely have them
Guest palewar Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 Yes and infact one of the thing that has been introduced with WM 5 is power point viewer, you needed third party viewers to view PPTs on Pocket PC, so don't worry about word, excel, outlook etc. You will have all of them + PowerPoint. I hope you have realised that yourself incase you bought a new device already.
Guest RichardD Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 thanks, it's useful info for anyone like me who didn't know though.
Guest palewar Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 Welcome Richard, So getting the WM5 device this christmas? WM5 is very exciting as it introduces many interesting things. You should check out http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devices/default.mspx for info about various devices and http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/about/default.mspx for various possibilities with WM5 All these links originate from windows mobile homepage on MS which is http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx Cheers ;)
Guest Sonicr360 Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Hi the only trouble with WM5 software is that ... there ISNT any good stuff out there! Alot of my purchased apps for my PPC2002 are just no good now! And contacting the developers have shown little interest in providing an upgrade for WM5 But to answer the Question, yes Pocket Office is part of WM5 :-)
