smartphone as remote control

I heard you can get a program from windows devices thats allows you to use it as a remote control for you tv etc. Anyone seen one for smarthpone??

No. Doesn't exist and can not be done. Infrared of Smartphone to weak. Do a search in this site. Many, many posts about this.

Even a few posts below yours covered it....

I did create a WMP Remote app that allows you to control WMP on your PC from the power of the SPV using bluetooth/usb/wireless/gprs

I am currently developing the app that controls the TV from the SPV via IR

Btw, will the Smartphone have to be 3cm away or can it be as far as the Symbians?

I think loads of people would be wondering also, since many people have claimed the IR by HTC is weak- or something?

well it is a fact that the IR strength is NOT as strong as what it kinda should be.

I was testing the IR communication signal strength and its about 1 metre.... but hey - better than nothing huh? :)

what would be even more awesome is if there was such a reciever for the TV that accepts special bluetooth commands... like IR commands... but doubt that would ever happen. lol
