Guest DeanoSMB Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 As a proud Vario owner at last I'm looking to get it stocked up with the best in freeware. Already it seems a bit hit and miss as to which Pocket PC / Smartphone software it likes. Would be interested to know what folk can recommend. What emulators if any are doing the business on the Vario? I can already chalk off FuseSP, CastCE (Atari emulator) and Pocket PC MAME emulators as not working on the Vario. Can anyone point me in the direction of ones that do? Also Mapopolis for Pocket PC works a dream on it and Metro (tube lines) is also excellent. WiFiFoFum looks to be working (and essential...) too. Anything else?
Guest Emad Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 Pocket UFO: http://www.smksoftware.ru/downloads.shtml Open Transport Tycoon: http://www.openttd.com/ SuperBomber: http://198.78.130.210:8888/ I run pocketnester for nes games and gnuboy ce for gameboy games. Haven't really had too many problems with software.. Probably going to try out ScummVM tonight.
Guest DancingMatt Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 I'd like Atari ST, Speccy and SNES emulators, and a good freeware Backgammon to start with...!

Will let you know if I hit gold!
Guest Emad Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 Megadrive games run fine in morphgear and picodrive - picodrive key settings are evil however. Game gear games (Cegg) run like a charm too, as do master system games. PocketScumm is working well, as are stratagus (warcraft II emu) and the rather fab King's Bounty.

I'm looking for some cool games for my Vario.
Guest Emad Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 I would find them, but am somewhat pressed for time. Most can just be found via google.
Guest radiator Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Hey Emad, sorry to take this off-topic, but I'm having a small (annoying) problem with SCUMM and wondered if you'd come across it? Basically, when running a game in full screen (landscape) mode, if I tap where the keyboard icon is, the keyboard pops up! Does it does this on your copy? thanks
Guest Rob.P Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Wish I hadn't read this topic lastnight, ended up installing the Scummvm and playing Beneath a Steel Sky until the wee hours, pretty gutted I don't have my series of Monkey Island games anymore
Guest Emad Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Try null keyboard radiator? I linked it in another thread
Guest Phil Lee Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I have the following registered software on my Vario: SBSH PocketBreeze SBSH ContactBreeze SBSH PocketWeather WebIS Pocket Informant 2005 Mapopolis I have the following freeware: Total Commander PHM RegEdit TCPMP WiFiFoFum nullKeyboard I also have trial copies of the following installed: SPB Pocket Plus Virtual Pool Mobile Age of Empires SmallMenuPlus (not using at the moment during Pocket Plus trial)
Guest casanova Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Phil, how do you find TCPMP performs on your Wizard? Mine plays Mpegs fine but seems to stuggle playing Divx Avi's. The playback is flawless for a few seconds and then it stutters for a very short period of time, it then carries on playing fine again. This is repeated all the way though the file. It doesn't bother me that much as the file is still perfectly viewable, but I was just wondering what other peoples experiences are.

Have a search for it, the guy has made lots of small but very useful programs. I still haven't got my Vario (delivery is yet again "tomorrow" ) so I can't try anything but maybe this will help fill the gap!
Guest radiator Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Try null keyboard radiator? I linked it in another thread <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, got that installed. Problem is, the null-keyboard icon still shows through the game when I tap in that area...doesn't dissapear until walk into a new room (ie, the screen refreshes). Really annoying, as if there's an item on screen in the same place where the keyboard icon is, as soon as I tap it, the damn keyboard icon appears...
