wifi sharing internet

I'm finding lots Of wifi connections but how do I know if they are sharing internet? I spent ages trying to connect to my schools wifi and use the net and then found out it was wifi for the wireless bromcom registers :)

I'd suggest investing in some software that will check the wifi network to ensure it's internet enabled and troubleshoot your wifi connection when needed. I once used PocketWINc and was quite impressed.
