Okay, okay Im new to pocket PC and coming from a smartphone I would like to know if its possible to install the equivalent of homescreens on the device? - Do you have to have the today screen or can you install something else? What about themes, can they be installed? if so where and how....What about a sticky containing details on this?

The "Homescreens" are called Themes on PocketPC

You can find gazillions by searching google for "pocketpc tsk" (all Themes have a .TSK suffix)

Find one (or more) you like and drop it in the \Windows folder, then go to Today under Settings and choose the one you want.

I'd also recommend Spb PocketPlus, which lets you use ExtendedThemes with battery/memory indicators and all sorts of other stuff.

Moved to Pocket PC Help & Advice (did anyone note that it's no longer called Pocket PC Phone Edition? :) )

Nobody tells me anything around here

Can I be the first to say that I preferred the old Pocket PC Phone Edition format ?

No ? thought not ! ;) :)

Also, check out the new list of specific devices 8)

@ Nato : you didn't even notice the Pocket PC Customisation section. There are quite a few in there you might like. What about one of my masterpieces ? :)

Otherwise, as Chucky suggests, put PPC+themes into Google and you'll be overwhelmed :D

Themes are quite different from homescreens though. With homescreens, the whole UI is replaced. With a theme, you only change the colours and background image. The contents of the Today screen are known as plugins and there's a whole lot of them available for lots of different things.

At first I didn't like this when I switched to PPC, but now I reckon it's miles better as you can change the look of your device without completely changing all of the functionality you have on the Today screen.

Personally, I have "Email" (built in), "Pocket PC Profiles", "Journal Bar" and "Pocket Breeze" on mine.

Yeah, must admit I still to this day wish it was possible to skin the Pocket PC like Midnight used to skin the Smartphone platform. Remember the Modaco series? And the MSN Theme (that was incredible  )?

My records from those days are sketchy at best! Can't remember either of them, but I did look up the MSN one, neat. Never did use it myself. I sorta got stuck with one of the Futurama ones for my last six months of Smartphone use. I was really very picky on homescreens; it needed to have appointments prominent, and as an original SPV owner, it had to be quite lightweight on the old cpu/memory!

If you want a lil more customisation of the today screen try Wisbar Advance 2. This is also theme-able (oo new word :) )
