Hi,

I apologies now if this is against the forum rules but i couldn't see it in there.

I am a final year student at Plymouth University and long time mobile enthusiast and reader of MoDaCo.

I am in the process of wirting my dissertation on the topic of mobile technologies and there effect on the work life balance of workers. They are touted as improving effciency and flexibility but what are the drawbacks increased stress and work levels?

I've produced a survey to try and collect this information and I thought what better place to ask for responses than from one of the largest mobile communities around. If you could take 5 minutes of your time to complete the survey it will be much appreciated.

Unfortunately its on a free hosting service so apologies for the ads

Done.

And as a Mainly home worker, hopefully my comments were helpful too.

My home setup is crazy just now - my personal stuff consists of:

Four desktop PC's, and a laptop connected to 10MB Telewest BroadBand, via a wired/wireless router, that also allows me to use my two Wi-fi enabled SP5's.

(And thus ready for my son's new X-box 360, if ever we manage to get him one, but the CRAPPY 360 doesn't even come with wi-fi built in, but needs a seperate £60 adaptor - COME ON MS - even my damn PHONES now have wi-fi built in, as well as my other son's christmas present of a PSP - so how the hell can your state of the art, futeristic new games console NOT have it - IDIOTS!)

Workwise, I have BT Business Broadband, connected to a work Laptop, via a cisco router and secure vpn, but I find this is hardly used nowadays, because we also get a Blackberry, that has full corporate Email, as well as the Global Address Book, and as bespoke applications, it includes, the company intranet, a seperate searchable work database app for searching all 9,000 staff addresses, phone numbers etc, a weekly room allocation list function for meetings, and finally, a searchable database of Planning Applications too.

Thus leaving the laptop to do little more than tell us what the works restaurant weekly menu is, and to open up awkward attachments the Blackberry can't handle from time to time.

But shhhhh.... don't let on, or they might come and take it away...
