Guest jakobdam Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 (edited) Hey - I've been wanting to develop mobile games for quite some time now. Having tried Visual Studio .NET and embedded C++, I must admit that I'm propably far too stupid to program in these languages. I am first of all a "graphics guy" that does computer graphics. But - I've taught myself some J2ME (java 2 micro edition), and now I've made 3 games, all tested on my SPV C500. :) They can be downloaded here (free of charge of course) : http://www.vildmedmobil.dk/index.php?side=501 ------------------------------------ OH NO - it's in danish. Well, since they aren't that complicated, it shouldn't be any problem. But I'll propably translate them into english in future updates... :D /// Short description: /// Car Shooter http://www.vildmedmobil.dk/index.php?side=501 The concept of gameplay is simple. You can stand in three different positions. Cars are coming towards your plane, and you have to shoot these cars. You can only fire one shot at a time - be carefull though, as a missed car will substract one life! Also, try not to get hit by the cars themselves. Space Stone http://www.vildmedmobil.dk/index.php?side=501 Steer free of the meteors and other space elements; you get points the longer you survive. You can shoot, but you loose points everytime you use a shot (whether you hit anything or not) - so only shoot when necessary! RainPhone http://www.vildmedmobil.dk/index.php?side=501 Have you ever heard about phones getting killed by moisture, water or other liquids? Yes? In this game, your mission is to transfer an SPV C500 safely through the rainclouds, from one sunny side to the other (it's a Frogger clone). The background changes as you progress. ;) Wild Destruct http://www.vildmedmobil.dk/index.php?side=501 Plants are growing, and they must be bombed. Bomb the plants back in the ground to get points; loose lives if the plants are growing too high or if they hit you. This game is in very early development. ------------------------------------ And yes - I've made all the music, graphics etc... :D Edited December 22, 2005 by jakobdam
Guest prof_ethan Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 congrats!!! very hard to do these! i admire u :)
Guest jakobdam Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Thanks :) Midlet 2.0 is actually somewhat easier than anything else I've ever tried (counting Flash ActionScript, Director Lingo, C# and more). Very intuitive, and a lot of usefull classes/libraries that makes sprite handling and event handling a bliss. I'm currently working on an update for RainPhone, and a big makeover for Space Stone. :D
Guest martin Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 Very good =D> Any chance you could do a version for the 240x320 screen. I tried the games on my C550 but the display is very small on the QVGA screen . It's good to see someone programming JAVA games that work on the MS smartphone :) I have tried a few JAVA games/applications before but there is often no support for the smartphone control system.
Guest jakobdam Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 Thanks ;) For now, I don't have any plans concerning QVGA development - but that is solely due to the fact that I don't own a QVGA phone myself, and I'd have to rely on the J2ME emulator - and of course, feedback from people with a QVGA phone. :) It is something to consider though, especially because it looks like 2006 will be the year of QVGA - and as more people buys these phones, there will be a higher demand - and then I'll buy a phone myself and develop for QVGA. :D
Guest jakobdam Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 A new 4th game has been added, and all the games are updated heavily.
