Yet another ActiveSync question amongst others

Ok, looking around the forum i've noticed some people seem to be having a similar problem but i just thought i'd share mine with you and see if any of you can offer any advice.

I have just recieved my O2 XDA mini s (yesterday) and am so far very impressed for the main part. However a couple of little issues have sprung to mind.

Firstly and most importantly, active sync. It just wont sync with outlook. It will connect, create a relationship and i can browse through the devices folders. However it only gets to the point where it says it in sync'ing up, never any further.

Secondly, everytime the screen turns off and i have to press the power button to light it up, it says i have just inserted a memory card and would i like it searched, (only a minor point but an annoyance never the less).

Thirdly and finally, i cant seem to find any way of naming my device when making it discoverable with bluetooth. Is this not possible?

Thanks in advance

ok update on this, just been on the phone with O2 (for about 40 mins) and tried everything they could think of.

No fix as yet but did manage to get it to work once or twice.

To get it to work i have to turn on the PC, disable the firewall (zonealarm), disable the anitvirus (sophos) and soft reset the device. If i do all this then it will sync.

Surely this cant be right tho?

Any ideas?

Unfortunately the combination of WM5 on devices, Activesync 4.x (a requirement for WM5 devices), and non Microsoft Firewalls seem to often prevent sync'ing. Make sure you've updated to Activesync 4.1 if you haven't already.

I haven't got a WM5 device but there must a way to make Zonealarm allow the device to connect to Activesync...

Solved it yipee :)

After a bit of tinkering it seems that when you first install the local area connection to the PC zone alarm puts it in the internet zone (high security) by default. However putting it in the trusted zone enables the device to function normally.

If i hadn't been a first time pocket PC user i might have known this from the start, but at least i know it now :D

Ok another question while i'm here,

When i'm setting a background for the today screen, it does set it initally, but as soon as i run an app then go back to the home screen it disappears. Is this normal or a bug?
