Guest DJ Big D Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Hey guys, does anyone have this Bluetooth GPS Receiver? If so how long does the blue flashing light stay on for when you are trying to connect to MDA Vario? Mine stays on for 5 seconds then goes off which I think is too short time for it to connect :) I am really sorry for being a pain the past few days but I need TomTom running so I can get to customers, etc in time. Really need help thx

When connecting to the unit the blue led flashes quicte quickly and when connected it flashes about once ever 3 seconds... Hope this helps Veef13
Guest jiffk Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 has anyone solved the problem of recconnecting after turning off this gps recieve? it seems that when ever you turn off the reciever and turn it back on again you have to delete and redo the partnership for tom tom to be able to pick it up
Guest DJ Big D Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 (edited) Thx for your help veef13. But it says on the instructions that it should flash once per second & if it is flashing once evry 3 secs then it has failed connection :) I still cant get tomtom working either, I really dont understand the instructions on the tomtom guide on here. I really do need help on this, I am getting really annoyed with it. Might even sell the fone as I really need this functionality on a phone/pda. Edited December 6, 2005 by DJ Big D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Might even sell the fone as I really need this functionality on a phone/pda. You would be better getting a decent GPS unit like TomTom's own rather than selling the device. Apart from being one of the best on the market at the moment, there are no connection issues and so worth every penny.
Guest jiffk Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 i would say that the official tom tom stuff is way over priced just easier if your useless at technical stuff, althought a bit awkward with paring i've found the recption of this unit very good.
Guest veef13 Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 I never read the instructions to be fair... To connect the gps, first thing is to make sure GPS console is enabled and you have the newest tomtom navigator patch... Follow instructions regarding the serial ports ot the letter and you should be ok.. I was... took two attempts but thats coz I did it wrong first time round... Re the comment about having to delete the profile, I haven't had to do this myself... What I feel some peeps maybe getting confised about is you don't start a connection from the Wizard to the GPS and start tomtom... Apart from setting up the pairing I could not see a way to connect BT GPS to the Wizard... All I do is turn on BT GPS, turn on BT on Wizard and start TomTom... When in TomTom, the stardard navigation screen should still say "No GPS device" this is a-ok.. Click on the stack of bars to the right of the screen and on the next screen choose setup and then "another bluetooth gps" and on next screen set to com 6... Then it should connect ot the BT GPS... myne does everytime... I'm using k-jam rom with tmobile extended rom but that shouldn't affet anything... Only once have I had an issue and that was after installing camera aware and TomTom forgot where its maps were... Quick eject ad install of minisd fixed it... Regarding reception, haven't has less than 9 sattelites yet... Got John Cleese directing me where to go now, very amusing... Cheers, Veef13
Guest DJ Big D Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 I have just checked my version & it says 5.0. I have downloaded the patch but it asks for a product code on ttcode.com. Unfortunately I have lost evrything to do with this as I lost them in a recent move. (Yes this is true lol) Any way round this?

I believe they will be able to find out your orginial hardware ID and match it to confirm it. I could be wrong tho, but that's what I heard.
Guest DJ Big D Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Ahh ok, what if you have transfered the software from one fone to another?
Guest DJ Big D Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Also, if u hve bought TomTom & the software & maps come on an SD card, how do u get them onto a MiniSD card so it fits in Vario?

Hope this helps Veef13

It does seem you have to delete and reconnect after switching the unit off, I haven't found a way round this but it is an excellent unit.
Guest TomaHawk Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Best bet for tomtom update is p2p or torrents even for fully legal copies Veef13 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> do you have a link for tom tom on torrent? thanks
