Guest Muppetfly Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Hi All, Please be gentle with me being a newbie and all, and also apologies in advance for if this is covered elsewhere. My new m500 is all singing / dancing however it doesn't like synching via bluetooth with my desktop. Having followed advice elsewhere on this site; I have paired the two devices and once I tap 'connect via bluetooth' it establishes a connection with the PC - so far so good. However at this point nothing much happens. The message 'connecting to host' comes up on the m500 and thereafter nothing happens. The PC does not respond at all - no programs open and nothing synchs. I am using a Belkin dongle with their software installed and seems to be working okay. In addition I have tried disconnecting the USB cable I synch with at the moment and also removed the m500's case to no effect. Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas? Cheers!! Muppet
Guest Pondrew Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Welcome to the site Muppetfly, Which operating system are you using on your desktop? Have you gone into your desktop Activesync Connection Settings and ticked the 'Allow connections to:' and entered the incoming comport number that your device is using? If you need help finding this out let us know...
Guest Muppetfly Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Hi there, Thanks for the advice (and indeed the welcome!) I'm running XP and the m500 is creating a serial connection via COM5 - only problem is that isn't available in the activesynch options on the desktop. Any suggestions?? Cheers in advance Muppet
Guest Pondrew Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 On my desktop that happens occasionally. I usually resolve it by going into Bluetooth Devices (in the control panel), then select the Com Ports tab. Remove whichever com port you think the device is using and then readd it. Restart the pc and you should find that com port can be selected in Activesync Connection Settings...
