Guest timmillwood Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 I have been looking around at the HTC Wizard for a week now and it seems to be the O2 and T-mobile have locked their phones to 802.11b instead of 802.11g. So i was thinking about getting one of the other brands. Which one have you got and is that the one you would like? Which one would you like if you dont already have one? i-mate K-jam Qtek 9100 O2 XDA Mini s T-mobile MDA Vario
Guest SystemicAnomaly Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 I would prefer an I-Mate KJam because it apparently has "the best rom" and I-mate are good to improving ROMs over time, but it's way too expensive so i'm trying hard to get an O2 Xda mini S.
Guest Emad Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 You can flash any wizard with the rom of any other manufacturer after unlocking if its that big a deal. Just go for the one you look prettiest. If you're in Europe, Qtek has a two year warranty tho.
Guest timmillwood Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 the MDA Vario is the cheapest, but the Qtek looks better, the i-mate seems better
Guest MitchellO Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Yeah, just have a look over at XDA-Dev and flash the ROM of the device with the KJAM ROM. That way you get the cheapest device, best ROM and 802.11g :D And bragging rights that you hacked the ROM of your device :)
Guest timmillwood Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 OK, one last problem, how to you get the big pink letters of the front of the T-mobile

Just wondering if it may be the solution to my Vario's memory issues...
Guest Samsonite Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 OK, one last problem, how to you get the big pink letters of the front of the T-mobile <{POST_SNAPBACK}> time to be Dougal!!! now where are my sugarcubes....!! get your best tate and lyle cube and gently scrub at the lettering.. it looks like its wrecking the case but its not.. one little spit-aided wipe and hey presto!! de-badged...mmmm smooooth.
Guest timmillwood Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Think i will be ordering a Vario 2moz now with all those problems solved! unless i can find any reason not to.

Just wondering if it may be the solution to my Vario's memory issues... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you send it in to them with the wrong (aka. KJAM) ROM then yes, but if you reflash the TMob ROM before you get any warranty work done it should be fine.

Guest jonhitch Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 Best has to be the Qtek 9100 for the following reasons 1. Available on any network - just need to search for the best price. 2. Free on a majority of contracts 3. Best looking! 4. Qtek sign rubs off automatically after a few weeks! 5. Because I have one :)
Guest MitchellO Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 I quite like my branding (imate and KJAM) on my device :)

Guest mcwarre Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 O2 has the most discreet physical branding of them all; got one for £150 for the year all in and sold it on ebay for £320 which is nice.......
Guest JPo_23 Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 I just got a vario and want to put the Imate ROM on it. Can someone tell me where I can get this rom, and also whether installing it will remove the sim lock on the phone. Thanks.
Guest jfran Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 you would need to unlock it b4 u can install another rom. As far as I am concerned unless wifi surfing on g bands is what you r after, then its worth the downgrade, otherwise stick with the t-mobile rom. unlocking tools can b found on the xda dev site, however as always any mods invalidate your warranty and should anything go wrong ............ rgs Jim
