SMT5600 to MPX220 - Insurance Replacement Offer

Recommended Posts

I lost my smt5600 on saturday and had insurance on it (cingular's accident). Through their LockLine they are offering me a Motorola MPX220. I was under impression that was an older phone and was replaced by the smt5600.

They claim they have no smt5600's in stock.

Is mpx220 sufficient as a replacement?? Have it's issues ive read about been fixed?? Any advice on what I should do??

I mainly use phone to sync via usb with outlook. My smt5600 had wm5 on it and all bells and whistles .. yet never really used them much .. although occasionally watched my FRIDAY movie on long drunk nights when i was bored.

Can I tweak the MPX220 at all?? Is it really "that" shitty?

Sorry for all the questions and i guess CHEERS IF A PERSON FINDS MY SMT5600. JACKPOT BABY!

THANKS GUYS

Aside from issues, I'm pretty surethere are things that just work differently on the mpx220 - I would look into the details of that before getting one. The 220 is not an older phone though. They are reasonably contemporary to each other.

Just last month lockline told me they were out of stock, then I threatened to complain to Cingular brass and all of a sudden a 5600 showed up at my door.

Also, sometime very soon, quite probably next Monday, Cingular will have the successor to the 5600 in the HTC 2125 (US Faraday version closest comparison is Orange c600). You might try to press them to replace it with one of those instead.

I definately agree with what you said. Think I'm gonna enjoy the time wihtout a phone and somewhat enjoy it!!

Is the 2125 more expensive?? I would consider it a direct replacement peronally .. as I have jsut now read upon researching the 2125 that Cingular has discontinued the phone .. possibly for the arrival of 2125??

Are my opinions valid?? Im sure I have a very legitimate argument for a 2125 as a replacement .. considering that is what cingular replaced the smt 5600 with!!

Anybody else who can shed light on this issue is welcome!!! ;-)

thanks again guys

I'm probably starting a new thread anyways. I lost my SMT 5600 last week (U.S.) and the cingular insurance program is now only offering the Motorola RAZR 3 as a comparable phone!

I'm now going hrough the inhumane processes of "customer service" to try to fix. Any suggestions / similar experiences?
