Guest nickcornaglia Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 (edited) Where are all of the developers? I want new and exciting apps. I'm getting bored. Even with the new hardware. Whats the point of getting new phones with a new OS if there aren't any new full featured apps to go along with it? Microsoft didnt come thru with much new or different in their built in apps. I would like Cell-Track to work (coming soon). I would like MS Reader. I would like MS PocketMoney or a similar app that will sync with MSMoney. I would like to control things in my house via WiFi. I would like remote camera controllers/viewers. I would like MovableType Blogging Software. I would like a homescreen replacement. I would like Newsbreak not to interfere with ActiveSync as it always does over time. (I would like Ilium to acknowledge that there is a problem). I would like CityTime Alarms to work all of the time....not just sometimes. I would like all of the apps I never even thought that I needed but really want because they are so cool. Where are all of the Smartphone developers???? Edited December 8, 2005 by nickcornaglia
Guest chucky.egg Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Fair enough, but what you are asking for is fairly rapid innovation and stability at the same time But I have been thinking the same thing about my M500 lately. I keep looking at Handango and FairDeal, but I haven't seen a really innovative useful/interesting new application for ages
Guest Tech Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 I am on the case about the "wifi controller" :) check out my WMP Remote app: www.spapps.co.uk
Guest Looby Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Maybe as in Ruttensoft the developers lose interest or there just isn't enough money in it for them. :)
Guest Ilium Software Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 I would like Newsbreak not to interfere with ActiveSync as it always does over time. (I would like Ilium to acknowledge that there is a problem). Hi, Sorry you've been having trouble. I'd need more info to give you a definite answer, but quite honestly ActiveSync interference isn't something we've ever run into with any of our products. I would be happy to help you figure out what is going on. Just drop me an email and we'll see what we can do to help. Guest Socrates Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 (edited) Where are all of the developers? The problem is developers have to spend hundreds of dollars to buy the MS .NET development stuff in order to make apps that sell for $5-10 to a limited audience. MS REALLY needs to come out with a free development tool for .net devices. They had evb that you could jury-rig to write apps for 2002 and 2003 smartphones, but that doesn't work for 5.0 so that ends the only free development tool I know of for smartphone. I hadn't realized it was so expensive to develop a quick simple utility for Win Mobile until recently went I decided to write an app that I couldn't find anywhere... the end result was I got discouraged by the cost. Guest nickcornaglia Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Maybe my problem has something to do with eWallets Synchronization Tool....I just reinstalled an will let it run until I have problems again.
Guest jcostantino Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Put me down for a blog software front end, too. I found a Java app (forget the name) that didn't work worth a damn and I thought I saw something else but couldn't get back to where I found it to download it. Regarding the camera viewer - you could just create a website that the camera software uploads a static image to. Refresh the screen when you want the new image. Also, there is a Bluetooth remote control program (http://www.jeyo.com/remote/sysreqs.asp) I don't know how far it will go to control "stuff" but it could probably control things through the host PC. Guest sdbarron Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 MS REALLY needs to come out with a free development tool for .net devices. That's how John Cody was able to jury-rig eVB. VB.NET 2003 is theoretically developable with Notepad and the compiler from the (free) .NET Framework SDK, isn't it? I remember when it first came out, people were doing that left and right. Visual Studio .NET 2005 has some free versions that might allow you to write VB for 5.0. Of course VS.NET 2005 abandons SP2003 so you're kinda out of luck there. Fortunately, I already have the Pro version of each VS.NET for other projects I work on. I still use VS.NET 2003 to develop my SP2003 games, at least until Verizon comes out with a 5.0 SmartPhone. For the folks asking for a blog front end, you know you can email posts to Blogger/BlogSpot, right?
Guest nickcornaglia Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 right. but not self hosted blogs like movable type without the right server plug ins.
