Guest Parallax20 Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Hi, I was just curious if GNUBoySP by SpaceMonkey was the only gameboy emulator port to smartphone? I noticed it runs a little jerky, so I assume theres quite a bit of frameskipping involved. Does anyone else find the same thing? Parallax.
Guest ninjaw Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 No, Smartgear is 500% faster than Gnuboy even on SPV1-SPV500 but not 550+ http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=112206
Guest Jamma14 Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Smartgear worked almost perfectly, although sadly Bitbank stopped working on it. :) Soo....theoretically there shouldn't be any working versions around.... [-X

Guest MiG:uK Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 There is GNUBoy, which doesnt support QVGA, and i know you have converted many emu's to QVGA, :) so possibly you could convert it and add some of the usual features you include such as save n load at button presses. Just a thought. :D

I was originally going to port VBAdvance which runs both GBA and GB games, but I was unsuccessul in getting it running smoothly on the smartphone, so I've abandoned it. You can see my early efforts in my other post if you want to try it out. Parallax.

Parallax. cool. that sounds awesome. i can imagine the smartphone not being able to handle GBA games. but then again i would leave it alone becuase apperntly nintendo have banned any emulation of the GBA, so i think its a ricky business. where can i find the link for the early efforts ? i cannot find a link.

You can run the ROM but won't be able to play the games. I didn't hook anything up as the frame rates were terrible. You will need to shutdown the app through task manager when your done.
Guest MiG:uK Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 (edited) ^ Ok. thanks a lot. i hope u get cracking with GNUboy port :D. and how do u roll em out that quick, u convert many apps to QVGA quickly, u would think big companies could do the same. :) Edited December 11, 2005 by MiG:uK

Eventually the relationship will reach maturity and become routine, at which time I will have to start divorce proceedings and looks for a younger interest. If you catch my drift. hehe ;)

Granted its not as easy to follow as .net but it works to a degree. You can also get the betas if your broadband is fast enough... I think you can download vs2005 and have the smartphone SDK installed along side it for WM5 development. You should give it a go if your keen. For me I just do this stuff on the side. I'm more of a Delphi programmer myself, but I'm trying to get back into C/C++ again. So I'm doing these projects as little refresher courses :)
