Guest bztips Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 (edited) Just got the Cingular Audiovox 5600 phone with WM 2003. First thing I noticed was that the start menu was a mess, with multiple screens of various programs randomly ordered. So using the Explorer command in ActiveSync, I created some sub-folders in Storage\Windows\Start Menu and moved all the shortcuts into these various sub-folders. I turned the phone off, then back on. And the sub-folders now show up when I press the Start button. But now several of the shortcuts don't work properly. For example, if I select "Settings" (whose shortcut I moved into a folder I called "Tools"), I now get only a single listing for "Phone" -- all the other listings described in the manual (eg., Sounds, Profiles, Homescreen etc.) don't show up. Any ideas why this is happening? And if all else fails, how do I go back to the original layout? I already tried moving the Settings shortcut back to the top level (ie, to Storage\Windows\Start Menu), but I still can't see Sounds, Homescreen, etc. Oh, one more thing. I had also installed an alternative .hme homescreen layout. Could this have screwed things up? If so, how do I get rid of it (since I can't get to the Homescreen settings)? Help! Thx. UPDATE -- OK, I figured it out. Turns out the homescreen I installed (downloaded from this site) doesn't paint the screen properly. Fortunately I was able to figure out how to go back to the default.
