Two options:

Either ensure GPRS is disconnected first, it'll display a big "G" in the top of the screen if it is, not the small G with two arrows. If it is connected hold the red key for a few seconds until it disconnects. If it is trying to connect via GPRS once wifi is connected you'll be able to tell as a notification will be displayed.

Or get a GPRS monitor app like SPB GPRS Monitor that will report GPRS data being chewed up when you download email or web pages, and not when connected via wifi.

I dont actually have a Vario but on my M1500 heres how I know.

I firstly turn WLan on. If I connect to my house internet then on the top bar of my M1500 I will see a mast with 2 arrows on it. From this I know I'm connected to my house WiFi.

I then browse a site. If a lil G appears by the signal bars then your using GPRS which does cost (depending on your contract) NOTE// a big G in a box means that GPRS is available, not that your using it.

If no lil G appears on the signal bars then you should be using your house WiFi as i believe there is no 3g on the Vario

Hope that helps :)

Spb GPRS Monitor comes free with the Vario on one of the cd's provided.

Some people are reporting it to be causing their Vario's to be sluggish and require soft resettting. Although i have it installed on my own Vario and have no such issues.

Interesting, I installed it straight to main storage, and it's always been fine. Maybe that's why some peeps have have problems.

The symbol changes to a "radio tower" icon replacing the GPRS icon. If it doesn't then you did not connect to your wireless network. WiFi takes precedent over GPRS, if you are successful in connection, your data will go through WiFi and not GPRS, there is no need to disconnect GPRS first; hence not necessary to use GPRS monitors.
