Guest mindracing Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 (edited) I purchased and downloaded the France Map from TomTom and followed the instructions to install it to my SD card for my C500 and all went smoothly, except TT5 can't see the map in the map list. RESOLVED. THANKS FOR LOOKING On the advice of TomTom support I upgraded to TT 5.20 and re-did the map installation. Same result. They next suggested formatting the SD card, re-installing TT5 to it, upgrading again and then installing the map. Same result. They have yet to come back with any more suggestions. Has anyone here experienced this or can suggest a solution? All codes and registrations etc are in tact and TT5 works fine, it just won't see the extra map. I should add that it sees my Amsterdam map OK and, of course, the default GB one. Attached is a screen shot of the folders on the card and the files in the France map directory. Any help appreciated. Guest mcwarre Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Have you tried sticking the France map in the Great Britain folder then trying it??
Guest mindracing Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 I have investigated further and now believe that the fault lies with the TomTom map installer. If anyone has a copy of the France map and could post a screen shot of the files I'd really appreciate it. Thanks you.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Try installing to the pc then copy over to the storage card. That's what I did as I know how activesync can play up with large files.
Guest jeffcooper Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 In my experience, the files shown on your screen shot are completely screwed up - they should be dat files mostly. With TTNavigator DVD's you can use the installer to create map copies at an alternative location - ie your c: drive - if you can, see if that gives you a better list of files (.dat's, .pna and .mid) and if so, then copy them to the SD card for the phone - I would say also that until I upgraded the SPV to Windows Mobile 5, I had all sorts of grief - but WM5 made TT a pleasure. Except for one thing, which is that the TT POI lists actually cause it to crash if you try showing them on the maps, or navigating to them (or at least the categories with lots of entries)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 never had a problem with poi causing crashes. Unfortunately TomTom have stopped doing cd version due to piracy but with the map downloads you can still choose location of installation.
