Frozen SPV C500 - help!

Please could anyone give me some advice on the following issue(s)...

My UK Orange SPV C500 (JUST out of warranty which is nice), SIM-unlocked and currently being used by me in Australia with no added software/features (with no problems for the past 4 months), has started doing one of 2 things when re-started:

1. Opening straight into the 3-colour Typhoon screen and not responding to key-presses of any kind, other than pressing and holding power button to turn it off.

2. Opening into normal home-screen (and correctly detecting ntework etc) but STILL not responding to key-presses of any kind. It will recieve calls in this state which I can't answer due to being unable to press any keys. Power button does not funtion in this state, meaning the only way it can be turned-off is by removing the battery.

Any suggestions or advice would be massively appreciated!

Connection to the keypad loose? If you have no warranty perhaps open it up to see if it's in place correctly.

Instructions can be found in the typhoon section.
