Guest gjrober Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 I have recently got a new iMate SP5 after having a SPV E200 for a few years. I am really impressed with the phone. But one niggle i have so far is that when you assign a picture to a contact you can not alter the size of the picture on the screen for wen the contact calls you. I used to be able to change the size of the picture and the location of the picture on the screen, or simply fill the screen with the picutre. Can anyone please give me any advise on this?

M <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for your response, but on the SP5 using Windows Mobile 5.0 to assign a picture it is now done when editing the contact (it's very smart actually). It doesn't use a separate application. Any other ideas or anyone else out there who may know?
Guest shadamehr Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 You've answered your own question mate. Windows Mobile 5.0 is now handling all this, NOT third party software. So it is no longer changeable. The picture gets resized by the OS itself. Until third party apps make it over to WM5.0 there IS NOTHING YOU CAN Do alas. When you set an image, the maximum it can be, is 72 pixels wide (by my own experiments). This will show up at the actual size (subject to it being 72 pixels wide or less), when you look at a Contact's entry in the phonebook. When a call comes in from that contact, it will resize fairly smoothly, to around 48 pixels wide, for incoming calls. And when you get an SMS from a caller with an image assigned, this too will show in the SMS message screen, BUT, at a badly resized, grainy, and incorrect aspect ratio image. So the Inbuilt WM5.0 Caller ID features are a step in the right direction in terms of ibuilt and Outlook sync support. But it is also a million miles backwards from the kind of thing IA Caller ID used to ffer of templates, animated gifs, variable size images etc etc.

I was ontemplating a WM5 but i like my Caller id thingy. Just wondering.......
Guest cingular2125 Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 I posted the same thing in a couple of other locations. Is there not a way to go into the code and change this? It seems like it would be an .xml type of setting that actually resizes the picture. Is there anone int he know that knows how this app actually functions and does this? The Call ID is essentially worthless. I can't believe that Microsoft did this in this way.
Guest shadamehr Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 To all: YES, this is a WM5.0 'thing' - NOT an issue specific to any particular device. To the last poster - curiosly enough, in an article > HERE < The author talks about exactly that - that MS claim it is customisable, and that the only problem is, so far, no one has customised any template for this. So if MS are being truthful, this should be easy, once some clever chap works out what it is that needs changing...
Guest Lobojpm Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Just checking back to see if anyone's made any headway on this... WM5 is so nice, but that photo is just SO small! I would like to go full screen, as I had on my wm2003 device... Maybe there's a 3rd party app now?
Guest Phil CK Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Sorry to bump an old topic (esp as a new member !) but this is exactly what I'm trying to sort.... Recently got an E650 and just really want to make the incoming caller image larger - can't believe it really is fixed at 72px ! So, just checking.... has anyone worked out how to fix this yet ? (without downloading a contacts manager program as so far they all look plain nasty & change way too many settings to achieve just 1 mod) thanks in advance, Phil CK
