SP5 and media player 10

Hi all

Proud owner of an SP5 I am and up to a week ago I had it syncing with media player 10 no problem. The way it was was I'd go into media player 10 and go to sync, I would see two devices

WM_Device

WM_Device_Storagecard

or something like that, so I'd sync with my storage card, transcoding everything to 64kbps. Happy days!

But a couple of days ago I had to reinstall my laptop, have XP pro and media player 10 just like before but my smartphone does not show up in media player 10 any more ! It syncs fine with my laptop and exchange server but not MP.

I've disabled my windows firewall just in case but that doesn't do anything either, the only difference I can think of is I was using an unofficial version of AS 4.1 but now I'm using the official released version.

can anyone help ??

After a clean install of Windows XP, AS4.1 and a hard reset of the phone... so everything completely without traces of historical wrong settings.... WMP10 does not see my SP5m. I have no clue what so ever what could be wrong here. So if you find a cause, please share your knowledge here.

all except the hard reset of the phone, I haven't done that (yet) but it will be my next option (if no one here comes up with something ..... anyone ??)

Just to add, I got my qtek 8310 today and it has this same issue, isn't found at all by windows media player - again i'm interested to hear from anyone who solves the issue and will also try to figure it out and post here if i figure it out.

Apparently if you install or upgrade to wm10 after activesync 4.1 activesync doesn't install some key files - running a repair on the activesync install got me up and running just dandy!

That said, I already had WM10 installed so not sure what went wrong where!

Let me know how you all get on.
