my computer is almost two years old, and i'm getting a little bored coz it can't cope up with some of the games, nowadays. while i was wondering on upgrading my pc system and thinking of what speed of processor i'm going to buy. i did a little research on the net and guess what i found THIS SITE. who would you think will dominate the dual core processors, intel or AMD?

i think you already knew the answer, but it's quite a fun to read the article. have fun reading. 8)

would you think that i have to wait for quad core processor? :)

Intel are miles behind, they have things on the roadmap for the later part of this decade that AMD have in their processor now.

The AMD x2 is basically two cores on one die, it has a crosslink so the two cores can share data. The memory controller is internal.

Intel's dual core chips are two single processors packaged into one chip, this is cheaper but it's a much inferior design. The memory controller is external which means although it has faster memory (DDR2) the latency is high. The two cores can't share information directly as there is no crosslink.

So there you have it, Intel - Cheap and ok, AMD - Premium and very good.

Just listened to a podcast today from extremetech and they got to thes intels new dual core (code named conroe) and it wipes the floor with anythin on the market now. don't think it'll be released for a few months though.

I've an amd 64 meself but think I'll switch to conroe when its released, I've been reading nothing but good things

my 2 cents
