Guest davidgee Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 Hi. I have an M5000 running WM2005, and I wonder if anyone knows how I can play movie clips downloaded from iTunes, that come as .m4v files? Thanks, David
Guest chrisbpr Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 (edited) have you tried installing TCMP ( beta player) as this plays most formats. Edited December 15, 2005 by chrisbpr
Guest davidgee Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 have you tried installing TCMP ( beta player) as this plays most formats. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi. Thanks for the reply but I don't think TCMP plays this .m4v file type, but in a nyc case I'm looking for something that runs on my Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2005, not on a PC. Regards, David
Guest fraser Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 iTunes files are infected with DRM, so the chances are that you will never get them to work on a non-Apple approved device. As they make their own portable devices, you have pretty much zero chance of that happening on the PocketPC. If you want to continue looking, what you want is a mpeg4 player, that's the format you are interested in. I think the original poster meant TCPMP which is a pocket pc player. If it doesn't play it, you may be able to get a codec you can install that will let it play them.

So I guess you're right, there's some protection going on. Thanks for your help.
Guest fraser Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 It may be possible to remove the restrictions on the media you have paid for, but I avoid these things, so have never tried it. Google may be able to help you. Depends on how much effort you want to put into it, but it can probably be done.

Google may be able to help you. Depends on how much effort you want to put into it, but it can probably be done. I play .m4v on my Ipaq. I use TCPMP v0.71, but you have to find the encoders for both the audio and video. Here is the codec for aac. After you unzip it, install like you would any other program. In file explorer, find the codec, cut and paste into TCPMP's folder wherever you have it installed and restart the app. http://www.rarewares.org/files/aac/tcpmp_a...mobile.0.66.zip To get the video to work, you need: ffmpeg.setup.0.71 from corecodec.org. They are currently having some issues with their site, so you might need to go to: http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/0.71/ Same procedure as with the aac codec. That's it. Podcasts and iTunes are now your friend. Edited October 31, 2006 by thenonoman
