XDA Mini S Phone issues

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just got the XDA Mini S and loving it but have had a couple of issues. Sent the first one I got back to O2 as it froze on me a couple of times. Now got another one and it hasn't yet frozen, but sometimes the phone functions are impossible to get up on the screen. I hope I have explained myself properly, and is anyone else experiencing these issues?

Really annoying as it's a great phone otherwise.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Try hard resetting and if the problems persists a ROM upgrade should be the next option, O2 data support should be able to help with that

Cheers appreciate the help - only problem is I have been unable to perform a hard reset which to be honest has been driving me mad! It says to hold the 2 buttons at the top and then press the reset button with the device off. I have tried this but to no avail. So read the posts on here and it says try that with the device on - still didn't work! Please help if possible...

you can try to hard reset by using the Clear Storage option in the system settings.

Hard resets are awkward - hold in the two top side buttons, press the reset and keep holding the top two buttons after you have removed the stylus from the reset hole. About four seconds should do it.

hello first time poster on here but been reading for a while.

just to let you know i am experiencing the same problem as yourself regarding dial up keypad.

it works o.k when phone is first switched on but after a bit of playing about it will not bring up dialling pad.

the only way i have sorted it is by turning device on and off again.

have you sorted it? have you spoken to 02 about it?

please post any solution you may find.

I have the same problem with my I-Mate Jam.

Elsewhere I've read that the problem is caused by Today screen plugins eating up the necessary memory resources. I suppose anything running in the background can cause the Dialpad not to load.

As suggested above, only an OS update will cure this.

I agree....the o2 plugins cause it to run very slow eg slide the keyboard out and it takes years for the screen to change over..if you find that your not using the o2 stuff you could try a corperate install(no o2 stuff). If you do use the o2 stuff then try stopping all running progs(start, settings, system, memory, running programs, stop all) then try..if all is good then install a good task manager to shutdown apps when you tap 'X'.dont know what the best is but i use magic button..good enough for me.

I found a good way to make the phone run faster is to close O2 Active, which to be honest isn't great anyway. However, I do still have the problem with getting the keypad up after I have been using the phone for a few days so need to reset which is annoying. Please advise where to download a good task manager from?

Thanks

As mentioned above Magic Button is pretty good & simple. It lets you actually close the application by pressing the 'X' button as well a providing a task list.

hello. i get the same problem with my new xda exec. Its lucky i checked on here before exchanging it for a mini S. Looks like its definately a problem with the new OS. My question is - are there no Today page skins you can download which have the phone keypad displayed by default? then it would always allow you to dial. surely..?

i will try uninstalling o2 active and see how that goes.

If you have an O2 device, when you carry out a hard reset you can stop the device loading up the O2 skins which will make the device run faster. You have 3 choices - basic, corporate and O2.

Chose corporate - you will need to enter a code

yes it's still 0506 - you may have to manually re-enter your connection settings so make a note of them before you carry out the reset. Some change - although only slightly different, i.e. in mms configuartion the port number changes to 8080 in corporate mode in O2 active it is 9201.
