how do I customise startmenu icons ?

I've spotted that the games folder has a custom icon on the start menu

HKCR\Games contains the icons

Adding HKCR entries for my other folders doesn't appear to work?

any idea what else I could try?

Yay, that worked a treat.

I worked out how to make it more WM5ish too. In the WM5 startmenu you can have a different icon for the shortcut when the cursor is on it

If you were to customise Accessories you'd make the following entries in the registry:

HKCR\StartMenuAccessories\DefaultIcon, Default="PathToIconFile.exe,-1234"

HKCR\StartMenuAccessories\SelectIcon, Default="PathToIconFile.exe,-1235"

where the SelectIcon is the one shown when the cursor is over it

In you Icon.lnk file you put this line instead of the usual path to an icon:

1#.StartMenuAccessories
