Guest goatpunch Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 (edited) Has anyone found an eBook reader that works with Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone? I'm astonished that Microsoft Reader doesn't support Smartphones- what are they thinking? I've tried Tiny eBook Reader but it didn't seem to work too well on WM5 (along with about 90% of all commercial software it seems). I think I might have to try a few java readers Am I the only person who wants to read eBooks on my smartphone? (I posted this in Tornado-specific, but I think it's more appropriate here; should I remove the other post? Cheers.) Edited December 15, 2005 by goatpunch

Not sure what formats it supports other than .prc ( I had a bunch from my Palm OS days, and to my suprise Mobipocket reads them on WM)
Guest Arbait Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 RepliGo from here --> http://www.cerience.com/viewers/pc.php and this new player look good: "AllReader+ is a powerful reading application for Windows Mobile Smartphone users to read books, magazine, newspapers, and all other text documents. Also you can rotate the screen to 90, 180, 270 degrees. With AllReader+ you can read books, make bookmarks, save quotes, configure profiles and settings and take advantage of many more options. Guest goatpunch Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 I worder WHY MICROSOFT DONT WANT TO PORT MS READER TO SMARTPHONES? Anyone know the reason? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know why- it's ridiculous, as it wouldn't even require 'porting' to the smartphone, simply ensuring that all functions are available without the stylus.
Guest goatpunch Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I worder WHY MICROSOFT DONT WANT TO PORT MS READER TO SMARTPHONES? Anyone know the reason? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I got around to asking them this question on microsoft.public.pocketpc.ebooks; so far the response has been: The primary reason is that the navigation model is different for Smartphones than for Standard or Phone edition devices. On Smartphone edition devices you only have the left and right keys to navigate/select with. It would require significant changes to support this in the current MS Reader and we want to assure that should we take this on, that we do so in the best way possible
Guest jasnewt Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I use AllReader+ mainly and Tiny ebook Reader for lit files. I installed Mobipocket when I first got my C550 but it obviously didn't like the phone because it would drain the battery ridiculously fast. More recently I tried a later version and that seemed bugged to hell so I uninstalled it without checking to see if they had fixed the battery issue. It's a shame because it was a good piece of software back when I had an MPx200. I am now trying out the latest build of Mobipocket. Hasn't locked up yet which is encouraging, but it is too soon to tell if the battery draining issue has been sorted. Jason.
