Guest ianmccarthy Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 does anyone know how it compares to skype forwarding to mobile phones? you bet: skype call-forwarding (killer recent feature of skype) is just that: folks skyping you will be routed to your mobile number, so you can either pick up the call there when you're away from your skype machine or the call will go to your mobile voicemail V4S records voice messages for you from other Skype callers and then sends you an SMS and/or email alert (you pick) with a direct link to your message, which then gets streamed to you in the appropriate format for your device (e.g. .wma for a winsmartphone) for ME the big deal about this is that i personally hate wading through a dozen emails to get to the one i'm waiting for now with V4S, you PICK the message you want to hear DIRECTLY - because all the messages are there in your SMS folder it's kinda like the difference between picking a track directly from a CD and having to ffwd through a whole tape to get to the one track you wanna hear thanks to all the MoDaCo folks who helped us beta-test V4S!! y'all rock.
Guest amerloch Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Thanks. I tried this and it is really slick. I get all my skype messages on my mobile now (in car, airport, etc. when I am not connected) and then i can check them again later on my PC if needed. Real cool that you can also forward/reply/create a new message at the PC level. Doesn't require you to actually talk to someone...
