How to get XML files from phone to PC

I want to make a few tweaks to my colour scheme (and if i feel ambitious my homescreen) on my SPV C550 and i know i need to edit the *.scheme.xml and *.home.xml files but....

I tried to download the files from my phone to PC and can't get it to work. I explore my smartphone from within ActiveSync and when i try to copy i get an error along the lines of "...hidden and files in rom cannot be copied..." I have also tried using file explorer on my phone to copy the file to the SD card which also fails :D

Anyone know a way around this? A free solution would be most appreciated :)

Hey thanks for the quick reply.

I know it sounds petty but all i wanna do is modify the Orange colour scheme (Which I assume is stored in orange.scheme.xml) so i thought the way to do this would be to download the original file from my phone to PC, make the changes in the XML then upload it to my SPV and fingers-crossed it will work :)

If that works and i'm feeling brave, I'd like to modify the homescreen but thats a pipedream at the moment.

Sorry for the late reply but maybe this can help...

Dowload Orneta Notepad onto your device. Open up the Orange.scheme.xml on it and edit something and save it as a different name elsewhere (eg/ Storage\Application Data\Home\My Scheme.scheme.xml) and try and copy and paste that to your PC.
