Network utilities WM2005 (O2 Exec)?

Hi all!

Im new to the pocket PC world, but am well versed with the PC side of things. One thing that has suprised me about the Windows Mobile software on my O2 Exec is the complete lack of control I feel I have over the network.

I connect wirelessly in the house and it is all configured and working, but I also have a server setup in the house and want to do some fiddling.

I am using the program "vxIPConfig" to see what my IP address is, default gateway, DNS, etc settings are on the PDA - but is there no way at all to bring up more diagnostics - sort of like a proper CMD prompt?

Im looking for tracert and ping commands and that sort of thing, to test server settings as currently I cant get routing and remote access to work on Server 03 :)

Anyone know of any 3rd party apps or are these facilities built into the PDA like in windows?

Thanks!!

Ouch, you came so close and missed it! The folk that make the vxIPConfig also make vxUtil which is a TCP/IP suite. Yup, ping, port scans, trace route, lookups, dns sweeps, lots of other neat stuff. It's in my "essential app" list.

WRT to hard setting the device config (e.g. name servers, IP address), it can be done but it's not the most intuative feature. It sort of feels as though the networking was slapped on as an addition to the OS, not in their from day one. The options are there, they just need to be found!
