problems after sending message

i have a spv c550. Normally after sending a message i get a report that says the message has been sent and even if the key pad is locked it will disappear after a few seconds. how ever recently this message has not been going away when the phone is locked and i have to unlock the phone and remove the message my self by pressing ok. the annoying about this is that i can't recieve a reply until i removed the message. if any one out there has a solution as to how to get it disappear again or remove the message entirely, i would be grate full.
