Guest lpasq Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 (edited) since i'm waiting for cingular/u.s. faraday to arrive, thought i'd practice unlocking on my cingular blue typhoon. first, i tried method already used successfully on cingular/faraday buy others. (this first method is suppose to be for faraday but i tried it anyway since it works for some att & cingular typhoon roms) result: no luck this way... Step 1. Removing application lock a) Install the WinMo Registry Editor Using the editor change these two values in phone registry, both at HKey_Local_ Machine\Security\Policies\Policies\ Change 00001001 from current value to 1 Change 00001005 from current value to 40 Reboot the phone. 3) Removing SIM lock from your phone. Obtain a copy of SPV-Services tool Unzip all of the contents of the ZIP file into a folder on your PC. Move cert.cab from that folder to your phone and RUN it. Run SPVServices.exe on your PC (your Smartphone has to be connected), chose SIM lock option on the left, type AGREE into a box.... this has worked for others....well....after several varied attempts...i gave up and went a different way and... ----------------------------------------------- i then went this way instead > CLICK ...this worked perfectly. ----------------------------------------------- i have three questions please: 1) is it true then...that our u.s. typhoons are really only partially application-unlocked? 2) can DisableSecurity be removed from phone after use? (this is my stupid question) 3) when i go to unlock 2125, what is the better/safer process prior to using the SPV-Services tool? direct registry edit or running A E Config & DisableSecurity?
