Qtek 9100 - Activesync problem

I have a Qtek 9100 with WM5. My Fujitsu N6010 laptop is running Windows XP Home. Both are setup to receive email via MS Exchange (works perfectly). My problem is that I can't Activsync 4.1 to connect my Qtek to my laptop to load software or music via USB. Activesync just says 'connecting' but never connects. When I plug the usb in my Qtek, I notice my wireless network connection in my system tray trying to connect. I can't load anything on my Qtek with this problem. Help.
