mpx220 - backlight problem

i went biking in the rain with my phone in a allegedly waterproof pocket. turned out that it very much wasnt. the phone was wet all over. after letting it dry under a lamp for a bunch of hours, the phone turns on and works wonderfully. the only problem is that the backlight doesnt turn on which renders the screen - and thus the phone - useless. any advice?
