Hi guys,

I am really feeling peckish for the SP5, it seems to be the perfect phone for me. It simpy has everything I am looking for, but still, I can't get myself to order one.

Before I do that, I really need to read up on it, but I am having troubles founding good and complete reviews. I don't know about any "offline store" selling it, so I can't even see it before buying it, so a proper review is really a must for me.

The closest I have found is a "First look" by Mobile-Review, but unfortunately, for some reason, they haven't reviewd it.

Are there any good reviews that I have missed?

well i just recently got the SP5m (same thing as SP5 except this one is silver and more for media)

i got it after being fed up with orange and their CS about the C600 (do a forum search lol)

SP5 has WM5 (awesome!!) and you can install .NET 2.0 CF to run newest and latest MS applications... as well as the ability to install SQL Server CE!

but away from that...

It's fast, it has wireless which is fantastic. It's pretty much everything you want in a phone, and more!

It has QVGA screen and it really is very nice :)

It has support for EDGE I believe (kinda like broadband on GPRS?)

Believe me, im very satisfied with the device, otherwise I would be moaning like I moaned about the C600 and Orange

It has the next generation of mobile processing chip on it I believe.

I can't point you to any reviews but i have an SP5 and an MPx220.

Windows Mobile 5 (on the SP5) is nice but we've been having endless problems so far trying to ActiveSync accross GPRS (anyone want to help with that?).

The SP5 is much slower than the MPx220 and I can't really say that Windows Mobile 5 is that much of an improvement. Some of the soft keys in WM5 change around depending on where you are in a menu. It's quite stupid really, it really shows how young an opertaing system Windows Mobile is.

Access to the miniSD on the SP5 SUCKS. You have to remove the battery cover and the battery to access it.

The camera on the SP5 is great though. Excellent clarity for a 1.3 MP camera and it's relatively quick too.

I personally hate the buttons on the SP5, there's not enough distinction between them. Also, I'm concerned about the joystick on the SP5, it's going to get filled with lint and I'm sure it's going to stop working at some point in the future.

You say the SP5 has everything you want in a phone, well for me it is missing something very critical - 3G.

Otherwise great phone.

Bear in mind that the SP5m is almost identical. Enjoy ;-)

Hmm, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. The whole point of softkeys is that they change depending on where you are.

Thanks for the links, Mr_Man, will be reading them through.

I hope this isn't seen as a cheap advertising ploy, but I'll be posting a detailed SP5 and C600 review later this week. I can post back here when it's up. I can try to get a preview up before the final review primarily with pictures--would that be helpful?

As far as i am aware microsoft removed the ability to activesync remotly usless it is to a server

i am able to sync with the club imate exchange server through both wifi and gprs

Absolutely, that would be great! Really looking forward reading your review.

Ok, I've got a preview up right now with some pictures. You might be able to draw a few conclusions yourself from those pictures.

I'll have a full review up in early January.
