Message Notification LED

I love the LED because i don't have to faff around with having to walk over to my phone and pick it up just to see if i have an SMS, great. but im getting a problem where its flashing all the time when i dont have anything i need to check.. often after i've just sent a message. i have delivery notification enabled but it was doing it before this, and i always make sure to dismiss/delete the 2 notifications as they come in, but the amber light just doesn't go away. quite annoying, anyone had this as well?

My number ported over this morning and I've been getting the same problems with the light staying orange despite messages being read.

Mine was doing this, a bit.

It is very annoying, I agree. It seems to get a little confused, as it appears you can not answer a notification properly but "lose" it (say by reading an SMS without dismissing the Notification) and get into a catch 22:

I can't see the notification to deal with it, but have a notification to deal with.

A workaround, so the light doesn't flash for ever, or until you soft reset, is to go into...

Start --> Setting --> (Personal Tab) Sounds & Notifications --> (Notifications tab) and go through the Events making sure the "Flash Light" isn't set for too long, certainly not "No Limit". I set "New Text message" to 60 minutes. Which is plenty long enough if I don't hear it.

ah that sounds quite a neat workaround. it was doing the same thing with MSN today, its still convinced i have an unread msn when i haven't. shame its being buggy, its a really useful feature.

Yep, shame it doesn't do some form of check against whether there actually ARE any unread messages, whilst the light is flashing. Because, as you say, clearly the Notification software is buggy.

Mine's currently flashing to tell me the message I just read needs reading

Is there any way to make the light flash more often? As you have to stare at the phone for a while before it flashes.

Many thanks, Mat

I've noticed the same thing, but only if I'm in vibrate-only mode.

It's so poor that they still haven't fixed that bug. I used to have a Blue Angel (6 months or so ago) and that used to drive me mad. It's a little thing, but it's the little things on a phone that make the difference between a phone that's pleasurable to use and one that irritates you just that little bit too much. It doesn't encourage me to come back to WMx.

WMx phones may wipe the floor with Blackerries in terms of features, but BlackBerries are just so rock-solid stable, and that's very appealing in a business context. I would love to come back to WMx for my next phone in January, but they have to cater for business users as well as gadgeteers...
