ActiveSync always starts running on my phone

ActiveSync seems to have a habit of launching itself on my Vario, even when I've not been connected for ages. Does it need to? If not is there any way of preventing it? If it's using up valuable program memory I'd rather it didn't!

4 weeks in with the Vario and I have to say I've never owned a better gadget. Just waiting for a 2gb miniSD card to make my mp3 player redundant!
