Guest p2daz Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 Has anyone else suffered this problem??: I have just got back from Las Vegas, twice while there my M500 did a hard reset, once, as i held it in my hand, apart from the fact that i lost all my contacts etc i was well miffed as to why it happened in the first place? My conclusion was STATIC!!, as anyone who has been to vegas will testify - static is a pain in the arse there (dry conditions and miles of carpet walking) The phone seems ok now i am home, i have read numerous posts over the years about phones hard resetting themselves - could this be one of the answers? Is the M500 more susceptable than other phones ( i never had it using other htc phones in Vegas) One question, is there a way of backing up contacts etc to the storage card just in case this happens again?
Guest chucky.egg Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 You can set it to save to Storage (rather than Storage Card) every time you reset the phone. It's under Settings - System - Permanent Save. The downside of that is that it takes longer (sometimes ages) for the phone to finishing sync'ing before you can use it. I've been looking for a PPC app that will extract all my contacts to VCF files, which would have the same effect and should be faster. I'm wondering whether I can do it with MortScript... we'll see.
Guest Confused Stu Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Another alternative is Sprite Backup. It ain't free (unless you're into that illegal peer to peer stuff such as Shareaza) but it can make a self-restoring backup of your system. This means if you accidentally hard reset then you can click on one file and it'll restore 90% of your files and settings. Just a thought for if you find yourself in Las Vegas a lot! :)
