just yesterday i received a phone call from a lady and says that she is from tv licensing, and says that there is some problem with the computer and needed for some updating. she ask for my post code and give it to her co'z she told told me she was from tv lciensing.

i was in doubt w/ the lady coz she paused for a few seconds before she anwer the phone yesterday, so i did call the tv licensing just a while ago and ask them if they a had a similar probem yesterday and he(phil) says they haven't, phil says that it's definitely not them coz it is going to show on their system if they did. he says that there is one thing i can do, phone ntl and trace the phone number. luckily the customer service of ntl is very busy and been phoning them for few days now but just can't get through.

please, is there any advice that you people can give, thanks in advance.

So, all you have told the mystery caller is your postcode ?

If you told them nothing else I don't think you have anything to worry about.

You could find out the number of who had called you but you would still need to find out who the number belongs to. If you are worried you could check with your bank & credit card provider to check that there have been no transactions you haven't authorised.

Unless you're some kind of criminal or something....it might be someone sending you a Christmas present ! :)

dunno, but this past few days there are so many calls that they say are going to do survey but in the end trying to give me deals on phones or upgrades w/s is kinda annoying coz it's always the same company who calls.

but yesterday i had this feeling that the lady that i talk to is a bit dodgy coz it sounds like she's not sure about what she's telling me. and before that i got so many phone calls that after i answer the phone the person on the other end just hang up. just happen to me so many times recently so it's kinda odd.

and i do pay my tv license(direct debit), so how can i escape the bill.

just don't like the fact that someone is going to introduce themselves on the phone and say that they are from the company w/c is not and asking for some personal details, it's kinda annoying.

and yes, i did register my phone number not to receive any marketing phone calls/survey/or sort of any promotion.
