I went onto E2Save.com and ordered an SPV M5000, they said there was a 7day wait but i didnt mind, i actually thought it would be longer, but i got an e-mail back saying:-

"We are currently unable to proceed with your application because the handset you have requested has been discontinued...."

And i really want that phone, lets just hope the new version will be at the same price of £9.99 on premier 600 tariff.

Get yourself on O2 and as such will get yourself a more reliable version of the HTC Universal!

on o2 you can have the xda exec @ £149.99 with 19/month tariff, just not sure with the free minutes/text/mb. ;)

quick update: 12 month contract

OK...

I am not talking to my self i am talking to the 150+ people who have or will read this thread.

i can only get good Vodafone or Orange reception where i live, i have Half price line rental through work, only one per network and i already have one with vodaphone thats why why i want Orange.

I saw the SPV M5000 on e2save for 9.99 on Premier 600, which is a lot cheaper than £149 on o2.

i dont like the SP5 because it is not a PDA phone, but i am tempted.

i like the big screen, wi-fi, keyboard.

Thinking of Blackberry but dont think there are many/any on orange.

fair enough, ;) but the M5000 has got alot of problems, why buy a device with loads of problems? :D

do a forum search and im sure you will see alot of threads about the M5000 problems.

get a jasjar instead? it is a PDA with WM5 and wifi i believe

the JasJar is the same as the M5000 just with different firmware. i know there are a lot of problems but have also noticed that they only happen in 3G mode and not in GSM mode. so i would of kept mine in GSM mode until the update came.

and its always more fun when there are a few problems, i would get bored of a perfect phone.

Not sure what you're talking about - the old O2 s/ware made it slow and buggy but the new ROM gets rid of it.

I run an Exec in Corporate mode on Orange and wouold thoroughly recommend it.

4Mb of data in 3Gmode is nothing. Just checking emails I use about 0.7 - 0.8 Mb a day, doing the od bit of browsing I've used over 50Mb so far this month - luckily Orange give 1Gb/month free for the first 3 months!

;)

And the SP5Ms lack of 3G and the lack of support for VGA screens in SmartPhone s/ware put me off.

I loved my C500, wasn't as impressed with my C550 but the Universal is the device I've always wanted :D

I too have read problems about Oranges implementation of the Universal but im recommending the O2 XDA Exec which if you do a search there are very few people reporting problems.... and i am one with ZERO problems so far... and O2 have just released a ROM update for those with problems.

It's the same with every implementation. There seem to be good and bad with all of them. It would seem that some units have better quality hardware than others.

Some people I know with the XDA have problems, some don't. Same with the MDA. I've got an M5000, and have had no problems at all, whilst some others have.
