Just got a new I-Mate SP5. trying to download ringtones from Simon's thread which has tons of ringtones. but odd thing happened: the wav files would download and show up on my desktop (which is what i made my firefox default to be), but when you right click on it (the wav file icon), under Properties, it shows 0 bytes! it won't play either. and with Windows Media Player, there are the following error messages.

it won't play in itunes either, or one or two other players i've tried. no surprise, since the files have 0 bytes in them. something's wrong with the file downloading. i'm able to download wav files from other sites! i've tried in my effort for some rudimentary trouble shooting.

i'm able to follow instructions carefully, but i'm not a computer expert.

even tried Internet Explorer thinking that it might be an issue of modaco being not compatible with firefox (very unlikely but i tried it), same problem with IE.

Apparently, nothing really downloaded properly, other than the name itself, right? I’m befuddled.

Here’s the error message:

Here’s the thread at the website that has great ringtones:

Post #1041 is my post, under the name eieioNY.

The wav file that I can’t open, which is all of them, but one specific one is on Post #1005, Lyla.wav or something like that.

My error messages are:

I single click and i get Windows Media Player to open up, and a small pop up windows says:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." when i click More Info, i get:

" C00D1199: Cannot play the file

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

The file type is not supported by the Player. For a list of file types (formats) that are supported by Windows Media Player, see Supported file types.

The file type is supported by the Player, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the Player.

The file type is supported, but you are trying to play it in a way that is not supported by the Player. For example, you might have tried to drag a DVD file with a .vob extension from a DVD to the Windows Media Player icon. Or you might have tried to open a .vob file by clicking Open on the File menu.

You are trying to play one part of a multipart file. Use a newsreader or other program to combine the files, and then try again.

Error ID = 0xC00D1199, Condition ID = 0x00000000

It's odd because I can download and play other wav files from other sites. am i doing something inadvertently?

thx so much in advance for trying.

check your firewall settings and as a test disable your firewall and try to download again.

This can be a common problem especially older versions of Norton.

PS Welcome to the site but please do not crosspost, (some of your other posts regarding this have been removed) thanks :)
