Hi, i intend to get myself an xda mini s somethime in the near future, however with living in manchester the threat of having this sexy device swpied from my hands by a filth ridden gutter rat (thief) constantly there, i was wondering if there where any apps that allow typin to be done like this

post-139370-1135259349_thumb.jpg

That are either third party (preferably freeware) or built in. They have i on the m500 as the image shows but i was wondering if they did on the xda/mda/qtek/kjam etc.....

Not that this app would stop it getting nicked, but it would stop me drawing sooo much attention to myself(when i dont want it that is) by not having to slide out the keyboard!

Thanks for the help

M

I believe Phonepad is built into Windows Mobile 5 so comes as standard on all Wizard devices. I certainly have it on my MDA Vario.

Hi, did you get a mini s? how does it compare to M500? Any thoughts? I like the look of Mini S but M500 seems to be a popular choice.

Sorry to hijack the thread but..

I have been using an M500 for about 2 months and got the xda mini s yesterday, mmm, if only i could rip the two apart and make one perfect device!

The M500 is great, runs almost anything you chuck at it but i needed wifi (i did use a wifi card but that's very inconvenient) and it looks good too.

I had to get another phone contract so opted for the xda mini s, well it looks lovely- i especially like the keyboard, and this only makes it sightly fatter than the M500,the wifi is excellent- everything is excellent about this phone .

EXCEPT... the bloody cpu 200mhz?? now i know it should cut the mustard but i have found so may apps will not work and even if they do - they lock the device up!

It's early days with the xda really so i shouldn't slam it straight away but it's going to be a hard choice which one gets chucked on ebay.

I guess its what you want out of a phone really,

I've just got a Mini S (after a C500). There are SO many input methods. If you don't want to use the slide-out keyboard there's 5 others you can use.

- Phone Pad (as above)

- On screen keyboard (tiny - you have to use the stylus)

- Block recogniser (draw one letter on screen at a time)

- Letter recogniser (similar)

- Transcriber (write whole sentences and have them turned into text)

I love it. Especially WiFi and using TomTom Navigator rather than TomTom Mobile.

By the way - why isn't there a XDA mini S section yet?

There is - it's known by the original generic name from HTC - the Wizard. You can find the section under the PPC Device Specific area.

So for someone who isnt bothered about the wi-fi, would you recomment M500?

Does the mini have the latest windows mobile?
